Re: Nats, Who Ya Got?

the invite list will be published at 10:00 am tomorrow. Was that 10:00 am EST? If so, unless I'm missing something it's already late. It was EST. They must not have tapered...didn't hit their seed time. From the Pre-Championship Manual: "Unofficial psych sheet, with swimmers only, posted by 8 p.m. ...

Re: Nats 2014

There are lots of teams coming out of the woodwork at this meet. Conn has been doing well, Gustavus really is putting themselves out there. Wheaton has had multiple people make it back to individual finals. Chicago has been fast. The TCNJ relays have been SICK. Emory's men came up and at 'em. To my...

Re: D3 Mid-Season Power Rankings

My apologies. No, there shouldn't be duplicate events, and, yes, that'll make a big difference in the team standings. The meet results for the Miami Invite didn't mark those duplicate events as "time trials" so the software assumed they were scored events, which caused swimmers to reach their event...

Re: 2014 NCAA Qual Times

The rationale is to make sure deserving kids are not left at home. Now that 16 relays are invited there were a lot of "relay only" swimmers at the meet, leaving some kids who would get top-16 in say the 100 breast scratching their heads at home. With the new formula it should help that. There is al...

Re: Emory v. Denison

I think this year's version of the Emory Eagles established themselves as one of the best, if not the best, D3 women's teams of all time with their repeat national championship. I don't know how you can compare era's, but they were overwhelming and relentless. The Eagles were filthy good and took n...

Re: 2013 Cut Line

I've done the algorithm for the women. I had to make some assumptions about swimmers with multiple events. I also believe Emory is within its 20 squad limit given the cut line so I didn't drop any Emory swimmer. Surprisingly, I only got to line 14 for one swimmer. Otherwise, the cut line was at 13....

Re: D3 off season training Stuff that Makes me MAD

I don't mean to pick on Emory but, when I looked at their website, I didn't see any bragging in their "news" about the team GPA or the number of Academic All-Americans or Academic Honorable Mention All-Americans. (They did have a number of prestigious post-graduate scholarships though.) Because the...

Re: Preview

I really enjoyed the write-up. I will let you in on a little secret, at least one of the relays you mostly give to Emory women will not be won by Emory. Mark my words, look at the video from last year and get ready for a big upset. Getting pretty excited to see the meet and the Todhunter-Wilson sho...

Re: Qualifying rules

On the women's side, Emory does not hold swimmers out of their relays. Their problem is not trying to get more swimmers in, it's dealing with having 23 or 24 swimmers who would get invited but for the 18 member squad limit, and deciding who gets on the national squad submitted to the NCAA.

Re: Which girls will dominate at NCAA?

I stand by my statement that Emory women will kill it. After the Mid-Season Invites, looks like an accurate prediction. Even their split squad at SCAD invite picked up multiple cuts. Looks like another year for Howell to have to leave a bunch home. In addition to the multiple stroke and IM girls th...

Re: season debuts

When are the first meets for the big teams? I heard a rumor that a frosh from Emory dropped a 47.9 at the end of practice the other day. I'm kind of chomping at the bit to see what he'll put up when it counts. Heard at same practice a frosh girl dropped a 52.0. Starting early to compete for a spot ...

Re: 2011-12 qualifying times

Did anyone else notice that teams will only be able to enter 18 swimmers in the meet this year? The big 3 (Kenyon, Denison, and Emory), since they are the only ones that ever bring full teams, have to declare 18 swimmers this year before the cut line is established with no guarantee that any swimme...

Two teams. 18 swimmers each. Re-taper v. First Taper. Does it come down to the 400 FR?

Re: 2010-11 List of All Entries Received

I'd love to learn what someone concludes from running the NCAA algorithm. I could do it when the results were on the usaswimming data base but the new pdf-only version is too hard for me to cut and paste. My prediction is they hit line 19 when the overall cap kicks in, so they don't use all 146 ind...
