D3swimming.com has selected Michael Lagieski from Washington University (Missouri) its Athlete of the Week in men’s swimming and diving meets through November 7th.
Lagieski continues to impress during the early portion of his senior season. He helped the Bears defeat the Maroons in D3swimming.com’s Meet of the Week over the weekend. Lagieski won both breaststroke events, cruising in the 100 with a new Division III top time of :56.90 as well as the 200 with a time of 2:08.07 – good for the third fastest time in the nation so far this season. The Menasha, Wisconsin native also lead the Bears to a win in the 200-yard medley relay, splitting :25.45 on the breaststroke leg
Lagieski is being honored as Athlete of the Week for the first time in his career.
D3swimming.com has selected Denison’s Campbell Costley its Athlete of the Week in women’s swimming and diving meets through November 7th.
Costley had several great swims this weekend as Big Red took on two Division I opponents in Ohio State and Xavier. Against the Buckeyes on Friday, Costley finished 2nd in the 500 free and 3rd in the 200 free, with times of 5:02.03 and 1:53.65. The junior from Glencoe, Illinois, most impressive swim of the weekend was her 1st place finish in the 1650 against Xavier. She clocked in at 17:14.86, the nation’s fastest time in the event this season. Costley also finished 3rd in 100 fly and 100 free, posting times of 59.85 and 53.95, respectively.
Costley is being honored as Athlete of the Week for the first time in her career.
